Author's Biography

ALISON LOHANS is an award-winning writer who presently has 30 books to her credit. Her publications range from books for kids to mature teen novels, and two romance novels, most recently Strong as a Pharaoh (BWL Publishing, 2022). Alison has published with a number of Canadian presses and Pearson Education New Zealand (now owned by Pearson Australia). Many of her books have been finalists for Canadian and international awards, and some have been winners in their category - most recently, her children's picture book The 1-Dogpower Garden Team (Your Nickel's Worth Publishing, 2021) brought home a Silver Medal in the 2023 Moonbeam Awards.

Over the course of her long career, Alison has given more than 1000 readings from her work in schools and libraries across Canada, and enjoys connecting with the public in this way.

Alison has also taught writing, served as Writer in Residence at Regina Public Library in 2002-03, and has mentored many now-successful authors. She has also worked as an editor.

In addition to her writing, Alison also has a passion for music and plays several instruments in local amateur groups. Additionally, she loves to travel - and finds that visiting new places will sometimes prompt new book ideas.
