Author's Biography

Allison Hong Merrill is a Taiwanese immigrant who shares her Chinese culture through literature to build understanding, acceptance, and love. She earned an MFA in Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and writes both fiction and creative nonfiction, in both Chinese and English, for both adult and young readers. She is a Wall Street Journal best-selling author. Her bylines appear in the New York Times and the HuffPost. Her work has won both national and international literary prizes. Her debut memoir, Ninety-Nine Fire Hoops, has won 68 book awards. Focus on Women Magazine awarded her the title “Woman of Impact.” Aside from sitting on the executive board of Calliope Writing Coach Program, Allison is also a permanent staff at Writing Away Refuge Agent Pitch Retreat and a keynote speaker, instructor, and panelist at writer’s conference.
